Empowering Detroit through Development and Social Media

Despite reports of bankruptcy and corruption, Detroit is growing in a positive way, and it is a great place to live, work, and play.  Currently my family, which includes my two brothers and parents, are opening two, and hopefully more, brand new businesses in the central business district of Detroit, and we are not the only ones!  Accounting firm Plante Moran is opening an office in the Compuware Building. Advertising giant Campbell Ewald has brought 600 employees downtown next to Ford Field. Detroit is growing and changing, and we are excited to be a part of it.

Graduate Programs Office Growth

The Graduate Programs Office (GPO) within the School of Business Administration offers many services, from admission to advising, to assist graduate students throughout their academic careers. The main office is located in the Prentis Building in Midtown Detroit, the office also holds advising hours at the WSU Oakland Center. The office celebrated its one year anniversary on June 1st! Since opening, the GPO has expanded its services with a helpful and knowledgeable staff to ensure success of its growing student population. Help us spread the word and embrace change at WSU!

Share your resources, share your knowledge, share your experience. While most people associate elementary school with sharing toys and crayons, this lesson extends far past kindergarten. Students pursuing information science related careers come from a range of backgrounds and the mix of personal and professional experience among students can be very powerful. As a teaching and service focused profession, good customer service is essential. Understanding different communities, cultures, and perspectives adds both to the integrity of the profession and helps maintain educated, self-aware librarians.
