We may be looking at ourselves (and our marketing) the wrong way. You have to be the person whose job it is to get something done, and who your team will miss if they are gone. That doesn't always mean doing a job and waiting for authority, because authority doesn't find you, you get it by taking responsibility, but being willing to give away credit.
