Shape Up or Poor Form?

What do Wayne Gretzky, Karl Malone, Joe Montana, and Kim Kardashian all have in common?

Wayne Gretzky is making a comeback in Hockey?  Karl Malone is training again to reenter the NBA and take over the all time scoring record?  Joe Montana has been secretly practicing for later in life, post-retirement comeback? What could possibly be the motivating factor and common story line here?  Is this story one of poor form with the Skechers Corporate Brand advertising gone wild?

What could possibly be the motivating factor and common story line here?

Apparently Skechers has come out with a brand of shoe that they say has unique abilities to shape and tone your body as you exercise.  All three of these ex-athletes have endorsed the product and have not said they were mounting comebacks as a result, but if you watched the television advertisements you would be thinking that is what they were using the shoes for.  Multiple issues would seem to arise here for the common consumer.  Are any of these claims true about these athletes and is there anything special about these shoes that would make them different from any other athletic training shoe that a person would buy?

The article says "the digital immigrants have now caught up to the digital natives - we are now all digital citizens."  It is great that HR is finally embracing social media as a resource to find new talent.

The Millennials are Coming! The Millennials are Coming!

One if by land, two if by sea, and three if by Snapchat.

You’ve spent years building your company. You’ve made difficult business decisions and smart power plays. You’ve done everything right …and a 22 year old intern might destroy it with one twitter post.

What is a Twitter anyway? It will probably come as no surprise that social media isn’t just a way for the world to stay connected. There are incredible revenue possibilities available to an organization that can leverage its power correctly. However there is great responsibility that comes with this great power, Peter Parker.

Social Media Privacy

Social media has the potential be very beneficial, but can surely take a turn for the worst and became harmful.  Social media can not only affect a business/brand but also its employees.  We live in a technology-driven society in which even children as young as 6 yrs. old have access to social media forums.  There are even sites such as LinkedIn that are specifically geared toward networking in the business world.  So it is so important to stress that a business has to have privacy policy that includes social media in an effort to protect itself as well as keep their employees informed of potential post on these sites that could lead to their termination.

Privacy In Social Media: Not So Confined

Social media is such a large part of our lives today, many people find themselves posting, tweeting and sharing on a daily basis.  In this day and age, social media is used in an abundance of ways.  Whether it’s sharing pictures, keeping up with friends or just as a platform to vent, social media is an integral part of our society.  Just like any other societal component, we want to make sure it is protected and that we can control our own usage.  Unfortunately this is largely not the case.  What really happens when you click send?  When your information is deleted or your account is deactivated, where does your information go?  That’s right, you guessed it!  It stays right there on the good old World Wide Web.  The internet is such an amazing system and does a lot of good, but there are also some bad things that we should be leery of when using the internet mainly social media.

Why is it Important to Manage Your Online Reputation

Posted by John H. Heinrichs

Manage Your Online Reputation

In this day and time it seems that all things are posted online for the world to see.  This has revolutionized the way that people communicate with each other and the way that they communicate information of companies, products and services as well.  The use of social media tools can help market a company’s products and services, but it can also be very damaging as well.  A consumer can have a problem with a product and/or service and give an instant review using their Facebook status or Twitter feeds.  Or the consumer can start a blog to give their opinions, likes and dislikes about a product and/or service for the world to see in less than five minutes.
